In April, we reached out to our grant partners to offer our support and flexibility with their grant funds in an effort to support them during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of these strong community leaders have already responded, quickly pivoting their work to address community needs. Mercy’s road to women’s health—Kenya

In Kisiwa, where Ufanisi Women’s Group operates, 1 in 5 teens is a mother or expecting her first baby. By the time Mercy Namukuru was 15 years old, she was married and had a daughter. Mercy’s education was a low priority since girls in Kisiwa are too often pushed to get married before they turn 18 years of age. Mercy owns a small maize farm and would previously skip working on her farm during menstruation periods due to a lack of access to pads and funds to purchase these expensive disposable items. East Africa Leadership Forum Convenes in Tanzania

Knowing from our own experience that non-profit leaders often benefit from having a safe space to share experiences and coach each other in addressing challenges, members of Pangea’s Africa Pod asked some of our partners if they would find it useful to meet with one other. Pangea Giving Announces 2018 Grant Awards

Continuing its global support of rural, grassroots organizations, Pangea Giving is awarding $128,433 in grants to be distributed in March, 2018. We are proud to partner with groups in Southeast Asia, Latin America, and East Africa to help them address critical issues in their local communities, ranging from education access and economic opportunities, women’s health/sexuality training to sustainable agricultural methods for increased yields and improved nutrition.
