East Africa Leadership Forum Convenes in Tanzania

Knowing from our own experience that non-profit leaders often benefit from having a safe space to share experiences and coach each other in addressing challenges, members of Pangea’s Africa Pod asked some of our partners if they would find it useful to meet with one other. The answer was yes. So in 2016 we set aside a small amount from our grant pool to help our partners come together at the Dandelion Africa location near Nakuru, Kenya, in what we called the East Africa Leadership Forum (EALF). Pangea Giving co-founder, Allan Paulson, recently returned from 15 days in Kenya visiting four of our current partners, two for the first time, and ‘interviewing’ a couple of other prospective partner organizations. Following are his impressions: I arrived in Nairobi a few days after the end of the terrorist siege at Westgate Mall, not without misgivings. Pangea Partners With CIFORD Kenya to Help Eradicate Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

Pangea is very excited to be awarding a second year grant to CIFORD (Community Initiative for Community Development), in Meru, Kenya. Under the direction of an inspiring leader, Margaret Ikiara, this organization is doing exciting work in eradicating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). A significant percentage of the $9500 grant they receive from Pangea will go toward continuing their FGM program which has been having a very positive impact in their community.
