How To Be A Global Nonprofit was born out of a desire to help passionate individuals and their nonprofit organizations find the best way to further their international causes. In recent years, there has been a groundswell of people wanting to get involved with global causes in a hands-on way. Indeed, Nicholas Kristof wrote about this phenomenon in a 2010 NY Times Magazine article, "The D.I.Y. Foreign-Aid Revolution." I observed that there was a dearth of resources available to guide individuals and organizations wanting to operate in the international arena. How To Be A Global Nonprofit describes the spectrum of ways an individual or organization can ...[ Read More ]

Guatemala Travel Blog – November 2012
November 21, 2012
On Sunday, November 4th, we made the long trek to Salama to spend the night before our visit with FNE in Rabinal. FNE's school was not in session but a number of parents, students and teachers were at the school to share their experiences. Sandra Lopez, ED, and Antonio, school director, gave a tour and overview of the program. Their programs are interactive with a strong focus on local tradition and culture and the recent history (late 1980's) of massacres in the Rabinal communities. Curriculum is both in the classroom and practical. Students work side by side with their tudors...[ Read More ]
PANGEA GIVING: A Learning Journey, by Allan Paulson, Co-founder
October 31, 2012
The half dozen or so people who got together 10 years ago to form Pangea were mostly strangers to each other. What brought us together was a common desire to learn about the issues of people in developing countries and how to use our resources to support change that improve people’s lives. All of us had written checks to large charitable organizations with good programs, but we wanted to actually learn by doing it ourselves in a way that engaged us personally. We would do our own research and education before choosing where we wanted to make grants, and we...[ Read More ]
“No Word For Welcome” by Seattle author, Wendy Call
October 26, 2012
This past October Pangea hosted author Wendy Call to discuss her new book entitled No Word for Welcome: The Mexican Village Faces the Global Economy. She traveled to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec for the first time in 1997 and returned many times driven to understand more about this part of Mexico. In 2000 she packed up her life in the US and moved to the Isthmus for two years to immerse herself in learning more about...[ Read More ]
